Pottery
My interest in wheel thrown pottery dates back to my A’level years. I went on to take it to degree level and taught it alongside art to 11 to 18 yr olds. I currently have a pottery workshop based at Carisbrooke Priory on the Isle of Wight. Pots are fired in a 9 cu ft propane gas kiln. The pots I make include:
• jars and bottle forms
• jugs
• lidded pots and casseroles
• teapots and mugs
• bowls
• plant pots
Glazes currently used include mainly Taggs Yard Red under the Chun/Tenmoku and Blue Grey over tenmoku. Brushwork is applied with a wide hake brush using iron and rutile oxides as well as various glazes brushed on. Firing temperatures are between 1270 - 1280’C.
